1. Qi-Stagnation and Blood-Stasis Syndrome
Main Symptoms: It is similar to acute simple appendicitis in Western medicine, manifested by shifting distending pain in the abdomen, constant insidious pain in paroxysmal aggravation and gradual transmission to the right lower abdomen, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, constipated stool, no fever usually, slight tenderness at the McMurray point of the right lower abdomen, slightly red tongue, thin and whitish coating, wiry and tense pulse.
2. Syndrome of Internal Retention of Dampness and Heat
Main Symptoms: It is similar to acute suppurative appendicitis or appendiceal abscess, manifested by pain fixed at the right lower abdomen in gradual aggravation, accompanied by fever, thirst with preference for drinks, constipation, obvious tenderness and rebound tenderness at the McMurray point of the right lower abdomen, slight muscular tension, localized mass sometimes, reddened tongue, yellowish and greasy coating, wiry and rapid pulse or slippery and rapid pulse.
3. Heat-Toxin Accumulation Syndrome
Main Symptoms: It is similar to acute suppurative appendicitis complicated with localized peritonitis or gangrenous appendicitis, manifested by serious and constant pain in the lower abdomen, tenderness, rebound tenderness and muscular tension at the McMurray point, and even spreading to the whole abdomen to induce a broad-like belly, accompanied by constant fever, frequent perspiration, reddish face and eyes, restlessness, thirst with preference for drinks, brown urine, crimson and dry tongue, yellowish and greasy coating or yellowish, thick and dry coating, wiry and slippery pulse or full and rapid pulse.
