INGREDIENTS
Crude astragalus root, Radix Astragali (Huangqi) 12g
Plaster stone, Gypsum Fibrosum 12g
Fresh cogongrass rhizome, Rhizoma Imperatae (Baimaogen) 12g
Liquorice, Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) 6g
Crude Chinese yam, Pulvis Rhizomatis Dioscoreae 10g
Honey, Mel 30g
PROCESS: First, pound the plaster stone into fine powder, decoct it together with cogongrass thizome and astragalus roots in water until the water has boiled more than ten times; remove the dregs and let the decoction settle to obtain about 500ml of clear extract; the liquorice powder and Chinese yam powder into the extract and cook together; stir it with a chopstick while cooking to prevent the powder from sinking onto the bottom of the pot; the decoction will become a kind of thick extract after it has boiled once; then, mix honey into the extract and stop heating when it simmers.
DIRECTIONS: Take it in three portions in one day.
EFFICACY: Recuperating the lung, clearing away heat and moistening dryness of the lung.
INDICATIONS: Persistent asthma and cough due to slight affection by wind-cold, especially in winter, which is caused by impairment of the purifying and descending functions of the lung resulting from deficiency of its qi and yin.
