To understand how Varicocele is caused, one should first understand the anatomy. The function of the spermatic cord is to carry blood to and from the testicles. The exact etiology of Varicocele is not clear but researchers are of the opinion that Varicocele tends to form when the valves present in the veins of the spermatic cord do not function properly and hinder the smooth flow of blood to and from the testicle. This causes the vein to dilate resulting in damage to the testicles as well as causing negative impact on the fertility of the individual. This condition usually is seen at the time of puberty.
