The source is from the capitulum of the perennial herbaceous plant, Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat, family Compositae. The medicinal material is collected in the end of autumn and early stage of winter, dried in shade for medication.
Medicinal Properties:
Pungent, bitter and sweet in flavor, slightly cold in nature and attributive to the lung and liver meridians.
Actions:
Expel wind and clear away heat, clear liver-fire to treat eye disease, and eliminate toxic substances.
Application
1. For exogenous disease due to wind and heat or early stage of seasonal febrile disease manifested as fever, headache and cough.
2. It is used for red, swollen and painful eyes and blurred vision whether the syndrome is asthenic or sthenic.
3. For obstructive emphysema, dizziness, headache, blurred visiondue to hyperactivity of liver-yang.
4. It is used for furuncle and especially for furunculosis.
