The source is from the roots of Pueraria lobata (Willd.) ohwi, family Leguminosae. The medicinal material is collected in spring and autumn, cut into pieces, dried in the sun and the raw or the stewed form is used for medication.
Medicinal Properties:
Sweet and pungent in flavor, cool in nature and attributive to the spleen and stomach meridians.
Actions:
Expel pathogenic factors in the muscles to abate heat, let out the skin eruptions, promote the production of body fluid to relieve thirst and uplift yang to relieve diarrhea.
Application
1. It is used for exterior syndrome due to exogenous attack. For wind-heat syndrome due to exogenous attack manifested as aversion to cold and fever, headache and dryness of nose,
2. It is used for measles at the early stage with unsmooth eruption.
3. Used for febrile disease with excessive thirst and internal heat with diabetes.
4. It is used for dysentery. For dysentery of damp-heat type.
