It is suitable for a patient who is anemic, weak and low energy with a plump body. For a petient who is thin and wiry, with a drak complexion, the drug will cause fullness in the chest. Side effects of Astragalus are rare. It can generally be used safely, but it may counteract the immune-suppressing effects of cyclophosphamide, a medication used to reduce the chances of rejection in transplant recipients, as well as corticosteroids.
