Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Taiwan, provinces of China, Thailand, Indonesia.

Properties (characteristics):
Sweet, slightly acrid, neutral.

Medical functions:
Anti-inflammatory effect: the alcohol extract of the root of the herb possesses anti-inflammatory effect.

Regulating immune system effect: the water extract or alcohol extract of the herb can inhibit anemia caused by cyclophosphamide. The water extract is stronger.

Actions & Indications:
For difficulty in urination, Edema, Constipation, pain in rheumatism, bone and muscle ache, injury of the muscles in the lower back, injuries from impact, influenza, hepatitis, Stomachache, diarrhea, Mastitis, acute cellulitis. The whole plant is used in loosening the muscles.

Chemical ingredients:
Tinosposides A and B (lignan glucosides), tinosinen (phenolic glycoside).
The stems contain: betulin, β-sitositerol, lupeol.
 
Dosage:
To take orally as decoction: 5~30 g.
External application: use fresh herb, appropriate amount. Smash and apply or soak and make into extract for washing affected area.

Cautions:
Not to use during pregnancy and post partum period.
