A remote medical platform connecting the Karamay Central Hospital and Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Beijing was set up on June 24, which will allow Karamay people to see the country's top TCM doctors.
As soon as the platform was launched, Tang Xudong, director of the Xiyuan Hospital, diagnosed two Karamay patients online. "I am so lucky to have diagnosis and treatment by top experts in Beijing. Remote online consultation is very convenient," said Mr Wang, a patient with chronic stomach illness.
"Thanks the Xiyuan Hospital for bringing the best TCM resources to Karamay and making its resources available for people in West China," said Ye Zhou, director of the Karamay Central Hospital. He believes the distant medical platform will boost the development of medical science in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, as it will facilitate for both sides to enhance communication and exchange in scientific research, medical services and hospital management.
The Xiyuan Hospital was established in 1955 and is strong in TCM. It is also one of the traditional medicine centers approved by the World Health Organization.
