This is a spontaneous discharge of semen without sexual activity, usually once every 1-2 or 3-4 days.
Differential diagnosis: Patients with Yin deficiency may suffer from emission of semen with dreams of sexual activity, dizziness, tinnitus, unstable sleep, lassitude, weakness of body, red tip of tongue, and thready and rapid pulse. Patients with poor kidney function may suffer from repeated emission of semen, dizziness, vertigo, soreness of waist, sallow complexion, aversion to cold, cold limbs, pale tongue with white and thin coating, and deep, thready and weak pulse. And patients with damp-heat pathogens may suffer from frequent emission, discharge of small amounts of semen during urination of hot and turbid urine, annoyance, unstable sleep, dryness and bitter taste in mouth, thirst without desire to drink much water, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and soft and rapid pulse. The emission of semen in sexual neurotics, acute and chronic inflammation of prostate gland, urethra, seminal vesicle, testis, epididymis or prepuce can be treated by the following methods.
Treatment:
Foot massage: The massage is applied to kidney (22), liver (18), spleen (34), stomach (15), heart (33) and reproductive gland (36) reflecting areas (Fig. 57).
Foot acupuncture:
1) Meridianal acupoints: At Gongsun (SP4), Zhiyin (BL 67), Rangu (KI 2), Taixi (KI3) arid Zhongfeng (LR 4) acupoints, a reinforcing technique is applied to patients with deficiency of Yin and poor storage function of kidney, a reducing technique is applied to patients with damp-heat pathogens and the needles are retained for 20 minutes; and moxibustion after acupuncture may be applied to patients with poor storage function of kidney.
2) Extra acupoint: At Quehi (EX-F 10) acupoint, a balanced reinforce-reducing technique is applied and the needle is retained for 20 minutes.
Foot bath:
Warm water of 50-60 degrees centigrade in a wood or enamal basin is used to soak and wash both feet for 8 to 10 minutes once each night before going to bed with a calm mind.
