Stranguria patients may Suffer from cramps in lower abdomen and frequent and urgent urination with pain in urethra and sensation of unfinished urination.
Differential diagnosis: Patients with stranguria of the heat type may suffer from dysuria with frequent discharge of small amount of dark and turbid urine and burning pain in urethra, distending and straining sensation in lower abdomen, and red tongue with yellow and greasy coating. Patients with stones in the urinary tract may suffer from distending pain in lower abdomen and urinary tract, temporary blockage of urination relievable by a change of posture, sand and blood in dark urine, white or yellow and greasy tongue coating, and wiry and rapid pulse, and colic in abdomen or waist in patients with stones in upper and middle urinary tract, severe pain in abdomen. Patients with hematuria may suffer from frequent and urgent urination of bloody urine, pricking pain in urethra, mild pain in lower abdomen, yellow and greasy tongue coating or red tongue with scanty coating, and thready and rapid pulse. Patients with qi disturbance may suffer from distending pain on both sides of lower abdomen and perineal region, feeble urination with repeated discharge of urine in drops, shallow breath, no desire to speak, pale tongue, and thready and weak pulse. And patients with chyluria may suffer from difficult discharge of turbid urine with oily supernatant and sediment of flocculi, clots, blood streaks and blood clots, dryness in mouth, white and greasy tongue coating, and soft and rapid pulse. Patients with the above symptoms caused by acute and chronic infection, stones or tuberculosis of urinary tract, acute or chronic prostatitis and chyluria may be treated by the following methods.
Treatment:
Foot massage: The massage is applied to kidney (22), urinary bladder (24), ureter (23), parathyroid gland (13), lymph nodes (abdomen, 40), stomach (15), lung (14) and prostate gland (50) reflecting areas (Fig. 58).
Foot acupuncture:
1) Meridianal acupoints: The moderate stimulation is applied at bilateral Taixi (KI3) acupoints for pain due to stones in urethra and the needles are retained for 30 to 90 minutes.
2) Foot acupoints: At Urinary bladder (FA-P 15), Kidney (FA-P 14) and Bed-wetting (FA-P 21) acupoints, a moderate twisting stimulation is applied and the needles retained for 20 minutes.
External application of drugs:
One handful of fresh lettuce and Huangbai (Phellodendron bark) 10 gm are pounded together to prepare a paste for application over Yongquan (KI 1) acupoints on both sides to treat hematuria.
