This is a disease with numbness and even loss of sensation in skin, muscles, and limbs.
The numbness of skin and muscles in various diseases of connective tissue, and nutritional, metabolic, and endocranial diseases can be treated by the following methods.
Applications of hand therapy:
Acupuncture therapy:
At regular and extra acupoints:
Location: The location of acupuncture is determined by the location of the lesion. For example, Quchi (LI 11 ). Hegu (LI 4) and Waiguan (TE5) are used for numbness of the upper limbs; Baxie (EX- UE 9), Houxi (TE 3), Neiguan (PC6) and Hegu for numbness of the hands; and Shixuan (EX- UE 11) for numbness of the fingers.
Method of manipulation: Bleeding therapy is applied at Shi-xuan, and routine acupuncture is applied at other acupoints after retention of needles for 20 minutes.
At reflective areas:
Location: Areas corresponding to the region of numbness in dorsal reflective areas and radial or ulnar reverse dorsal reflective areas.
Method of manipulation: The needles are shallowly inserted and removed immediately after twisting, lifting, and thrusting stimulation.
At special acupoints beside the second metacarpal bone:
Location: According to the area of numbness. For example, the upper limb acupoint is used for numbness of the upper limbs; and the leg acupoint is used for lower limb numbness.
Method of manipulation: Routine manipulation.
Hand bath:
Recipe: Sangzhi (Ramulus Mori) 30 g, Guizhi (cassia twig) 20 g, Weilingxian (Chinese Clematis) 15 g, Xijiancao (Herba Siegesbeckiae) 30 g, 2 pieces of centipede, Luoshiteng (Caulis Trachelospermi) 30 g, Danggui (Chinese Angelica) 30 g, Fang-feng (Radix Ledebouriellae) 10 g, and Honghua (Flos Carthami) 10 g.
Function: To warm meridians, release stagnation in collaterals, tone the blood, and expel wind pathogen.
Method of manipulation: A hot decoction of these herbs is used to steam and then wash both hands for 20-30 minutes, two to three times a day.
