This is a common symptom in children with convulsions and mental confusion. The progression of this disease is rapid and may be considered life-threatening. The incidence is highest among young children. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is divided into the acute type with yang and excessive nature called acute convulsion: and the chronic type with yin and deficient nature called chronic convulsion.

Acupuncture therapy:
At regular and extra acupoints:
Location: Twelve ,ling acupoints, Shixuan (EX- UE 11), Neiguan (PC6), Hegu (LI 4)
Method of manipulation: Bleeding therapy is applied at 12 Jing acupoints and Shixuan (EX-UE 11) and the routine acupuncture is applied to other acupoints with the needles not retained.
At special acupoints beside the second metacarpal bone:
Location: Head acupoint, upper limb acupoint, and leg acupoint.
Method of manipulation: The needles are inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for five minutes after twisting, lifting, and thrusting stimulation.
