Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum. Cinnamon is used mainly as an aromatic condiment and flavouring additive in a wide variety of cuisines, sweet and savoury dishes, breakfast cereals, snackfoods, tea and traditional foods.
The benefit of cinnamon arises from the medicinal properties of its oil including its antispasmodic and antimicrobial nature. As a warming herb it is used to treat colds, influenza, and inflammation of the joints. It is also used to treat digestive complaints such as flatulence, diarrhea and nausea or Gastroenteritis. Antimicrobial means it is effective against viral, fungal and bacterial infections. It is also effective against some parasites.
Cinnamon can be used as an ingredients for food soak, especially for people who suffer from Edema due to the dysfunction of kidneys.
