Symptoms of Rectocele:
Many women may have weak rectovaginal septum and have some degree of rectocele, but only a small percentage of the women have symptoms related to the rectocele. The symptoms can either vaginal or rectal or both.
Vaginal Symptoms of Rectocele:
--Vaginal bulging
--A sensation of a mass in the vagina
--Pain with intercourse
--Abnormal vaginal bleeding (in rare cases)
Rectal Symptoms of Rectocele:
--Difficult evacuation with straining or constipation
--Bulging in the vagina lining when straining to have a bowel movement
--Return of urge to defecate after leaving the bathroom because stool that was trapped in the rectocele may return to the low rectum after standing up
--A feeling of pelvic pressure
--Increased discomfort in the pelvic region
