Hematochezia is the medical term when there is a fresh blood found in the stool or just a passage of fresh blood in the anus. Sometimes when a person defecates, they will not notice the bloody streaks in their stool but when wiping the anus, they will see the fresh blood. This symptom is often associated with lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

--Constipation or diarrhea
--Dizziness
--Fatigue
--Fever
--Body weakness

In some cases, the gastrointestinal bleed can be life threatening. A person who experiences these signs and symptoms should seek medical help right away:
--Dizziness
--Difficulty breathing
--Severe abdominal pain
--Vomiting of blood
--Fainting or sudden changes in the level of consciousness
