The Great Compendium of the Yongle Era
Yong le da dian was was an enormous anthology of every tort of writing, including all or part of between 7, 000 and 8, 000 books. Xie Jin and Yao Guang xiao compiled it between 1402 or 1403 and 1408. It originally included 730 million characters in 11095 volumes, of which only scattered fragments survive. From these fragments a number of medical books, otherwise lost, have been recovered. A compilation of the medical chapters was published in 1986. The left picture shows the book.
