Model Letters by Sun Xingyan

Paper. Fig. 1:33×18 cm; fig. 2:23 × 8.5cm. Sun Xingyan (1753-1818), was a leading textual scholar of the Qing Dynasty. He was a native of Yanghu (now Wujin, Jiangsu Province). He was learned in every branch of classical studies, including medicine, and edited many early texts. His reconstituted version of the lost Shennong Materia Medica (Ben cao jing; see Fig.34) is widely considered the most authoritative. These are his copies of famous ancient letters.
