In a part of the limb where there is no joint, if there occurs movement similar to the movement of the joint, or a joint can move to a direction to which the joint can not originally move, this is called abnormal movement. This is a sign peculiar to fracture, and it is also seen in rupture of ligaments. However, one should not actively seek for abnormal movement when examining the patient, lest it increase the patient’s sufferings and make the trauma severe.
