Grasping and pinching manipulation in tendon smoothing
It is a manipulation to grasp and pinch the muscles or the ligaments alternately tightly and loosely by using fingers’ forces forming from the thumb and the other fingers. A manipulation to grasp and lift the muscles and ligamenst and then quickly let them go, just like action of drawing a bow and letting the string off in shooting at an arrow, is called plucking tendon method. A heavy manipulation of plucking tendon with both lifting and plucking forces is again called lifting-plucking method. The method combining with poking manipulation is called plucking-poking method. The manipulation using the thumb and the index finger to twist the diseased interphalangeal joint of hand is called twisting method. The above manipulations have actions of relieving muscular spasm, relaxing adhesion, promoting blood flow to resolve swelling and removing stasis for stopping pain, and are suited for spasm or adhesion caused by acute or chronic muscle and tendon injury.
