(1) Herbal therapy
1) Internal medicine
a. Therapeutic Methods: To disperse cold, warm the stomach, regulate the flow of qi and relieve pain.
Prescription: Modified Liang Fu Wan (Pill of Alpiniae Officinarum and Cyperi) and Zhengqi Tianxiang San (Tianxiang Powder for Restoring Healthy Qi)
b. Therapeutic Methods: To clear away heat, remove the turbidity, normalize the function of the stomach and relieve the distention.
Prescription: Modified Sanren Tang ( Three-Seed Decoction)
c. Therapeutic Methods: To soothe the liver, normalize the function of the stomach and relieve pain.
Prescription: Modified Chaihu Shugan San (Bupleuri Powder for Soothing Liver Qi),
d. Therapeutic Methods: To invigorate blood circulation, remove blood stasis, activate the collaterals and relieve pain.
Prescription: Modified Shixiao San (Powder for Dissipating Blood Stasis),
e. Therapeutic Methods: To tonify the spleen, nourish qi, strengthen middle energizer and stomach.
Prescription: Modified Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Decoction for Strengthening Middle Energizer and Benefiting Oi),
f. Therapeutic Methods: To tonify qi, warm middle energizer, strengthen the spleen and stomach.
Prescription: Modified Huangqi Jianzhong Tang (Astragali Decoction for Warming Middle Energizer)
g. Therapeutic Methods: To nourish yin, clear away heat, strengthen the stomach and produce body fluid.
Prescription: Modified Yiwei Tang (Decoction for Nourishing Stomach)
2) External medicine
a. Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae ) 50 g, Rhizoma Zingiberis (Ganjiang) 50 g, Flos Caryophylli (Dingxiang) 50 g, Xiaohuixiang (Fructus Foeniculi )75 g, Cortex Cinnamomi (Rougui) 30 g, Shengliuhuang(Sulfur) 30 g, Zhizi (Fructus Gardeniae) 20g, Hujiao (Fructus Piperis) 5 g and Biba (Fructus Piperis Longi) 25 g. Grind them into powder for later use. In the treatment, mix 25 g of the powder with 25 g of flour to prepare paste, apply the medicated paste at Shenque (CV8) and fix it with adhesive tape. Keep the application for 3 - 6 hours, once or twice daily. This treatment is applicable to cold in the stomach.
b. Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu) 120 g, Poria (Fuling) 60 g, Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishaoyao) 60 g, Massa Medicata Fermentata (Shenqu) 60 g, Fructus Hordei Germinatus (Maiya) 60 g, Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi) 60 g, Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui) 60 g, Zhike (Fructus Aurantii) 60 g, Zhibanxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata) 60 g, Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) 20 g, Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian)15 g, Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae) 15 g, Fructus Crataegi (Shanzha) 15g, Baikouren ( Fructus Amomi Rotundus ) 15 g, Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae (Yizhiren)15 g, Radix Astragali (Huangqi) 15 g, Rhizoma Dioscoreae (Shanyao)15 g, Radix Codonopsis (Dangshen)15 g, Radix Aucklandiae (Muxiang) 15 g and Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao)15 g. Boil the sesame oil first, crush the above ingredients and put them in the oil until they become brownish-yellow, filtrate and remove the dregs, extract the oil into semifluid, then add red lead and stir them well into cream. Put the cream at the acupoints and change it every 3 days. It is applicable to deficiency of the spleen and stomach.
c. Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) 500 g. Pound it and get the juice, add Niupijiao (Colla Corium Bovis Seu Bubali) 15 g, Ruxiangmo (Olibanum, powdered) 15 g and Moyaomo (Myrrha, powdered) 15 g. Decoct them in water until they are jellified. Make 3 big plasters, put one on the gastric pain area and warm it by hot compress. It is applicable to chronic gastritis with gastric discomfort, cold pain, vomiting of clear fluid.
d. Shengiiang ( Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens ) 100 g, Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae ) 100 g, Rhizoma Acori Graminei (Shichangpu) 30 g, Congbai ( Bulbus Allii Fistulosi ) 60 g, Xiebai ( Bulbus Allii Macrostemi) 60 g, Huoxiang (Herba Agastaches) 60 g, Baimaogen (Rhizoma Imperatae) 120 g, Sangye (Folium Mori) 120 g, Pipaye (Folium Eriobotryae) 120 g, Zhuye ( Herba Lophatheri ) 120 g, Huaizhi ( Ramulus Sophorae Juvenilis ) 240 g, Liuzhi ( Ramulus Salicis Balylonicae) 240 g, Sangzhi (Ramulus Mori) 240 g, Juhua (Flos Chrysanthemi) 240 g and Wumei (Fructus Mume) 3 pcs. Stew the above the ingredients with sesame oil, prepare them with red lead into extract. Add Shengshigao ( Gypsum Fibrosum ) 240 g, Hanshuishi (Mirabilitum ) 120 g, Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis ) 30 g,Mulifen ( Concha Ostreae, powdered) 100 g, Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas ) 100 g and Niupijiao ( Colla corium Bovis seu Bubali) 120 g into the extract, prepare it with alcohol, apportion the extract to make plasters. Put the plasters at Shangwan ( CV 13 ), Zhongwan (CV 12 ),Xiawan (CV 10) or the umbilicus, apply 1 - 2 plasters in each treatment and change them every seven days. It is applicable to gastritis with stomach heat.
e. Rhizoma Imperatae (Baimaogen) (Herba Ranunculi Japonici, fresh, leaves and stalks removed). Wash the herbs clean, pound them with brown sugar (about 30% of the herbs) into a paste. Put the paste into the rubber caps of penicilline bottle and apply them at Weishu (BL21) and Shenshu (BL23) for about 15 minutes until feverish sensation appears. If the blisters appear, let them absorbed without breaking them. This is applicable to chronic superficial gastritis with gastric pain as the main manifestation.
(2) Acupoints Massage
1) Acupoints selected: Pishu (BL20), Weishu (BL21), Zhongwan (RN12), Juque (RN14), Tianshu (ST25), Zusanli (ST 36).
2) Manipulation: First of all, apply pressing manipulation to the bilateral acupoints on the back from up to down by both palms, then press these acipoints in circle by thumb pulps for 2-3 minutes for each acupoint, repeat it for 2-3 times, twice a day or depend on the actual situation.
(3) Guasha Therapy
Acupoints selected: Pishu (BL20), Weishu (BL21), Zhongwan (RN12), Tianshu (ST25), Neiguan (PC6), Shousanli (LI 10), Zusanli (ST 36).
Manipulation: apply direct Guasha manipulation to these acupoints at an angle of 45°with the skin, from up to bottom, from inner to outer, to smooth qi, dissipate cold, eliminate hot and relieve stomachache. The force should be gentle and make the patient feel comfortable. Repeat it to the acupoints until a local roseola occurs.
