Tuina acting mechanism standard of classification
During the Tuina treatment, the interaction between the manipulative force and the body can be roughly divided into two Dhases. The first phase is called the phase of mechanical effect, in which manipulation foree causes wave moving, deforming, displacing of tissues due to interior pressure or even destroying the structure. Suitable mechanical effect may improve pathological states such as setting right some dislocations of bones or joints, spliting adhesion of soft tissues, so as to achieve therapeutic effects. Some manipulations mainly rely on mechanical effect to cure illness or injury. These manipulations possess specific effect, and are usually appropriated for specific joint or part of the body, so they can be called moving joint manipulations. Among them, there are rectifying manipulations to rectify dislocation of bone or joint and mobilizing manipulations to relieve adhesion of soft tissues. The second phase is called the phase of biological effect. The deforming, and wave moving due to interior pressure of the organic tissues may stimulate the peripheral parts of the meridian system such as points, sinew systems and cutaneous regions. Then the meridian system makes response to the sensory afferent impulses caused by the force of manipulation, and thus adjusting both local and integral living activities, balancing Yin and Yang, activating the flow of qi and blood, and restoring the visceral functions, thereby curing some diseases. A lot of manipulations can not directly improve pathological conditions, but as outside stimulating signals they activate the intrinsic regulating function of the human body to treat disease and injury. This type of manipulation does not have any specific therapeutic effect and are not manipulated on specific points or parts of the body, they are called non-specific manipulations, or mechanical stimulative manipulations.
