Ermen (TE 21), Tinggong (SI 19), Tinghui (GB 2)--They are needled 0.5 - 1 cun perpendicularly when the mouth is open. When the needles are retained, the mouth is slowly closed.
Yifeng (TE 17)--It is needled perpendicularly 0.8 - 1 cun, or is punctured 0.5 - 1 cun from the posterior and lateral to the medial and downward. The deeper site is the place where the facial nerve perforates the stylomastoid foramen. So the needle should not be inserted too deep lest the facial nerve be impaired. The needling manipulations should not be too forceful, especially in the treatment of facial paralysis at the primary stage.
