Acupuncture Point Zulinqi (GB41)
Location:
Sit upright, hang down one`s shanks with feet touching the ground; anterior to the base of the 4th and 5th metatarsal bones, in the depression on the lateral side of the tendon of the 5th musculus extensor digitorum longus.
Function:
Refreshing oneself, relieving fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, regulating the flow of qi and dissolving lumps.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-4th dorsal interosseous muscle and 3rd plantar interosseous muscle.
There are the venous network of the dorsum of the foot, the intemediate dorsal cutaneous nerve of the foot, the 4th dorsal metatarsal artery and vein, and the branches of the laterior plantar nerve in this area.
Indications:
Headache, Vertigo, pain in the outer canthus, scrofula, pain in the hypochondriac region, distending pain of the breast, Irregular Mentruation, pain and swelling in the dorsum of foot, and spastic pain in the foot and toe.
Prescription:
Combined use with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of irregular menstruation; with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of angina pectoris; with ZhongzhuTE3 (Zhongzhu (TE3) Shu-Stream Point) for treatment of vertigo; and with TianchiPC1 (Tianchi (PC1)), XuanjiCV21 (Xuanji (CV21)) and ShufuKI27 (Shufu (KI27)) for treatment of fullness in the chest.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.3-0.5 cun depth; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5 min.
