Acupuncture Point Tianchong (GB9)
Location:
Sit upright or lie prostrate on one's side; vertically above the posterior border of the auricular base, 2 cun into the hairline, about 0.5 cun posterior to ShuaiguGB8(Shuaigu (GB8)) .

Function:
Relieving convulsion, dispelling wind, clearing heat and dissolving lumps.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-superior auricular muscle-temporal fascia-temporal muscle.
There are the anastomotic branches of the auriculotemporal nerve and the lesser greater occipital nerves, the parietal branches of the superficial temporal artery and vein, and the posterior auricular artery and vein in this area.

Indications:
Headache, Epilepsy, swelling and pain of the gums, and convulsion.

Prescription:
Combined use with TinghuiGB2 (Tinghui (GB2)) for treatment of deafness and tinnitus; and with XiaguanST7 (Xiaguan (ST7)) for treatment of gingivitis.

Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.5-0.8; needling response: local numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
