Acupuncture Point Burong (ST19)
Location:
Supine position; 6 cun above the level of umbilicus, 2 cun apart from the midline of the abdomen laterally .
Function:
Normalizing function of the stomach and spleen, and regulating the flow of qi to alleviate pain.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen,
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral and anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 6th to 8th thoracic nerves of the superficial epigastric vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the superior epigastric artery and vein and the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 6th and 7th thoracic nerves.
Indications:
Abdominal distension, vomiting, gastric pain, and anorexia.
Prescription:
Combined use with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) and ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of gastritis; and with DalingPC7 (Daling (PC7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of hematemesis.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension and soreness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Don't puncture deeply, or else the needle would penetrate the posterior wall of vagina musuli rectiabdominis-the transverse fascia-the extraperitoneal axungia-the parietal peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the visceral peritoneum and the liver by its tip and cause an injury to liver.
