Acupuncture Point Qucha (BL4)
Location:
At the juncture of the intermediate and the medial one third of the arc line connecting ShentingGV24 (Shenting (GV24)) and TouweiST8( Touwei (ST8)).
Function:
Improving acuity of vision, and clearing away the heat.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-trontal belly of occipitofrontal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the supratrochlear nerve and the supratrochlear artery and vein. In the deep layer, there are the subaponeurotic loose connective tissue and the perciranium.
Indications:
Headache, common cold, facial paralysis, Trigeminal Neuralgia, hypopsia, epistaxis, rhinitis, nasal polyp and diseases in the chest and lungs.
Prescription:
Combined use with YuyaoEXHN4 (EX-HN4) for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia (ophthalmic branch neuralgia); with JingmingBL1 (Jingming (BL 1)) and TaiyangEXHN5 (EX-HN5) for treatment of conjunctivitis; and with ShangxingGV23 (Shangxing (GV23)), YingxiangLI20 (Yingxiang (LI 20)), SuliaoGV25 (Suliao (GV25)), ShuigouGV26 (Acupuncture Single Point Shuigou (GV26)), YinjiaoGV28 (Yinjiao (GV28)), TongtianBL7(Tongtian (BL7)), KouheliaoLI19 (Kouheliao (LI 19)), and FengfuGV16 (Acupuncture Single Point Fengfu (GV16)) for treatment of nasal diseases.
Methods:
Insert the needle horizontally 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response:local sensation of distension; moxibustion: mild moxibustion for 10 min.
