Acupuncture Point Wuchu (BL5)
Location:
Sit upright with one`s back propped; firstly, locate QuchaBL4(Qucha (BL4)), 0.5 cun sagittally above QuchaBL4(BL4).
Function:
Tranquilizing the mind and improving acuity of vision, purging away the heat and expelling the wind.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-trontal belly of occipitofrontal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the supratrochlear nerve and the supratrochlear artery and vein. In the deep layer, there are the subaponeurotic loose connective tissue and the perciranium.
Indications:
Epilepsy, headache, dizziness, hypopsia, and rhinitis.
Prescription:
Combined use with HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI 4) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of common cold;with TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), FengchiGB20 (Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of epilepsy; and with ShenzhuGV12 (Acupuncture Single Point Shenzhu (GV12)), WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL 40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point), WeiyangBL39 (Weiyang (BL 39) Lower Confluent Point), KunlunBL60 (Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point) for treatment of back rigidity.
Methods:
Insert the needle horizontally 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response:local sensation of distension and heaviness; moxibustion: mild moxibustion for 10 min.
