Sequela of apoplexy refers to paralysis of limbs, distortion of face and difficulty in speaking after the attack of acute cerebrovascular disease, similar to wind stroke and paralysis in TCM. It is caused by non-restoration of the visceral functions, retention of phlegm and blood stasis in the meridians as well as abnormal flow of meridian
Location cupped and methods:
Acupoints selected: temple, yintang, Jingming (BL 1), xiaguan, Jiache (ST6), tianzhong, Geshu (BL17), Ganshu (BL 18), shenshu, chize, quchi, shousanli, hegu, huantiao, fengshi, yanglingquan, weizhong, chengshan, futu, xiyan, jiexi
Methods:
(1) Leaving cupping: at the lateral decubitus position of the patient, you should leave the cupping sites up. You should cup the sites with autovac and dry cups for 15 minutes once a day and ten times as one treatment period.
(2) Acucupping: you should select the acupoints according to the diseased region. Concretely speaking, you should stab first, and then cup the stabbed site after flash of fire for 10-15 minutes.
(3) Moving cupping: you should cup the back after flash of fire, and then move along du meridian as well as its two sides several times till erubescence appears. Elders and those whose body is weak should be cupped lightly.
