Scanty leukorrhea is usually believed to be caused by asthenia of the liver and kidney, hypofunction of the spleen and stomach as well as interior retention of blood stasis. The clinical manifestations are frequently scanty leukorrhea, dry sensation in the vagina or accompanied by pudendal pruritus. Scanty leukorreha is either asthenia or sthenia. Asthenia syndrome in scanty leukorrhea results either from the kidney, or the liver or the spleen. Sthenia syndrome is usually due to interior retention of blood stasis.

Clinically asthenia syndrome is frequently seen while sthenia syndrome is seldom seen. Scanty leukorrhea is classified into three types: asthenia of the liver and kidney, hypofunction of the spleen and stomach, and interior retention of blood stasis. The therapeutic principles are nourishing yin and replenishing essence. The therapeutic methods are nourishig the liver and kidney, strengthening the spleen and harmonizing the stomach as well as activating blood and resolving stasis.
