Secondary infertility is the inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term after already successfully conceiving one or more children naturally. Couples assume that if they could do it the first time without any fertility issues, why would it happen the second time around. Unfortunately, infertility can happen the the second time around or the third, or forth, etc. It’s actually pretty common. Secondary infertility can account for up to 60% of infertility cases making it a real issue when trying to conceive again after already conceiving naturally.
(1) Syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis
Main symptoms: Experience of pregnancy after marriage, sterility due to abortion, premature delivery and gynecological operation, delayed menstruation, scanty and unsmooth menorrhea with purplish and blackish color or with blood clot, often accompanied by dysmenorrhea, unpressable pain in the lower abdomen, purplish and blackish tongue or with ecchymoses, taut and unsmooth pulse.
(2) Syndrome of interior retention of phlegmdampness
Main symptoms: Sterility for years due to abortion, obesity, bright-white complexion, profuse and sticky leukorrhea, scanty and delayed menorrhea, or even amenorrhea, chest oppression and nausea, lassitude and fatigue, sexual frigidity, light-colored bulgy tongue with whitish greasy fur and slippery pulse.
(3) Syndrome of downward migration of dampheat
Main symptoms: Sterility for years due to gynecological operation, profuse and sticky leukorrhea with white or yellow color and foul smell, lower abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, red tongue with yellow and greasy fur as well as taut and rapid pulse.
