Syndrome differentiation and treatment
In clinic, the disease is classified into three syndromes: deficiency of liver blood, deficiency of both qi and blood, and deficiency of both liver and kidney. The treatment of irritated epiphora with cold tears should be mainly to nourish blood and remove pathogenic wind and, for the cases of constant weeping with excessive cold tears, the treatment should be put on the restoration of qi. If the dacryon or lacrimal pathway is blocked, operation may be needed.
