1. Syndrome of Wind-cold Invasion of Eye
Main Symptoms and Signs: Delacrimation of the affected eye at first, photophobia, obscure congestion, occurrence of punctate or dendritic cloudiness of the cornea, accompanied by running nose, fever and severe aversion to cold; light-reddish tongue with thin whitish coating and floating tense pulse.
2. Syndrome of Wind-heat Invasion of Eye
Main Symptoms and Signs: Photophobia and dacyorrhea with faint unsmooth or uncomfortable sensation, ciliary hyperemia, punctate or dendritic opacity of the cornea, or even grayish-whitish discoid cloudiness, accompanied by the general symptoms of headache and stuffy nose; thin yellowish tongue coating and floating rapid pulse.
3. Syndrome of Excessive Flaming Fire of Liver
Main Syndromes and Signs: Obvious ophthalmalgia, photophobia and dacryorrhea, ciliary hyperemia and bulbar conjunctival cloudiness, amplified and deeper corneal opacity in the geographic or discoid form, accompanied by the symptoms of yellowish-scanty urine and bittertaste in the mouth; yellowish tongue coating and thready rapid pulse.
4. Syndrome of Stagnant Fumigation of Dampness-heat
Main Symptoms and Signs: Protracted course with the condition mild and severe alternatively and no recovery, dendritic or geographic or discoid opacity of the cornea, accompanied by the symptoms of carebaria, chest distress, yellowish urine and loose stool; reddish tongue with yellowish-greasy coating, and soft and rapid pulse.
5. Syndrome of Yin Deficiency and Pathogenic Factors Retention
Main Symptoms and Signs: Prolonged course being recovered or onsetting alternatively, obvious dry and unsmooth sensation of the eye, mild ciliary hyperemia, or appearance of active lesion on the recovered scars; reddish tongue with little fluid and thready or thready-rapid pulse.
