Syndrome differentiation and treatment
The therapeutic principles of acute nephritis should be closely based on the pathogenesis with the therapeutic methods such as dispersing the lung and inducing diuresis, clearing away heat and removing dampness, supplementing qi and strengthening the spleen, warming and nourishing heart yang, purging the heat in the lung and inducing diuresis, calming the liver and clearing away heat, eliminating the turbidity of the fu organ to remove obstruction.
1. Wind and water struggling with each other
Main symptoms and signs: Sudden onset, edema of limbs after edema of eyelids, lustrous skin with good elasticity, dark and scanty urine or hematuria with accompanying fever, aversion to wind, cough, whitish and thin fur, floating and tight or floating and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Dispelling wind and inducing diuresis.
2. Internal invasion of dampness and heat
Main symptoms and signs: Edema of limbs and the body, dark and scanty urine like strong tea, skin sore, fever, thirst, dysphoria, chest distress and thoracic fullness, poor appetite, nausea, red tongue with yellowish and thin fur, slippery and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Clearing away heat and removing toxin, removing dampness to relieve edema.
3. Qi deficiency of the lung and spleen
Main symptoms and signs: Inapparent edema, or no edema, disappearance of hematuria, susceptibility to profuse sweat, lustreless or pale complexion, lassitude, hypodynamia, pale tongue with whitish fur, slow and weak pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Strengthening the spleen and supplementing qi.
4. Water and qi superiorly disturbing the heart
Main symptorns and signs: Edema of limbs and the body, cough with short breath, palpitation, chest distress, cyanotic lips, dysphoria with the inability to lie flat, whitish or whitish and greasy fur, thready and rapid pulse without force.
Therapeutic methods: Purging the lung and expelling water, warming yang and enhancing body resistance.
5. Pathogenic factors invading Jueyin Meridian
Main symptoms and signs: Headache, vertigo, blurred vision, dysphoria, accidental syncope with fright, clonic convulsion, coma, red tongue with yellowish and rough fur, and taut pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Calming the liver and suppressing yang, purging fire and heat.
