Essentials for diagnosis
(1) The skull takes on general homogeneous enlargement with faster speed, while symptoms occur of separation of bone sutures, obviously full and enlarged anterior fontanel and bluish superficial venules on the scalp. Cranial percussion shows cracked-pot resonance. Muscles of neck can not support the heavy head, making the head drop and the patient look downwards. The patient may have dysphoria, lethargy, poor appetite, even vomiting and convulsion.
(2) CT scan shows very thin cerebral parenchyma, reduced area of brain tissue and widened and enlarged ventricles of brain. Skull X-ray film shows thin osseous lamella, separation of skull sutures and widened sella turcica. Fundus examination indicates optic atrophy or optic disc atrophy.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
