The syndrome differentiation of infantile hydrocephalus emphasizes main symptoms in combination with concurrent ones to differentiate whether the disease is asthenic or sthenic, cold or heat. The patients with asthenia of the kidney have enlargement of skull, separation of skull sutures, sluggish expression, eyes without vitality and pale complexion; the patients with asthenia of the spleen have separation of skull sutures without closure, slippery and tight scalp, poor appetite, loose stools and dull expression; the patients with stagnation of preponderant heat and toxin have closure of skull sutures with recurrent separation, dropping eyes, fever, dysphoria, dark urine and constipation; the patients with blood stasis obstructing collaterals have enlargement of skull, separation of skull sutures, sluggish expression, local bluish superficial venules, purple lips and tongue.
