Atelectasis likely won't cause signs or symptoms if it only affects a small area of lung. If atelectasis affects a large area of lung, especially if it occurs suddenly, it may cause a low level of oxygen in your blood. As a result, you may feel short of breath. Your heart rate and breathing rate may increase, and your skin and lips may turn blue.
1. Irregular or difficult breathing
2. Fast or arrhythmic breathing
3. Chest pain
4. Coughing
5. Infection
6. Fever
7. Dizziness.
8. Gradual collapse:
9. Discoloration of skin (bluish, a result of less oxygen levels)
10. Shortness of breath; rapid breathing.
11. Shock (severe weakness, paleness of skin, rapid heartbeat)
