Diagnostic Essentials for Acute Lymphangitis in Chinese medicine:
(1) There is a history of infection of pathogenic toxins due to lesion in the skin and membrane, or a history of boils and sores in the extremity of the four limbs.
(2) It often occurs on the medial side of the four limbs. The mild condition is featured by fine red streaks with bright color in the superficial position of the skin. The severe condition is featured by wide red streaks, with dark red color, mostly underneath the skin, accompanied by obvious lymphatic swelling and pain, and even lymphatic nodes, suppuration and ulceration. The furuncle occurring on the upper limb can ascend along the medial aspect of the forearm and stop at the elbow or armpit. The furuncle occurring on the lower limb can ascend the medial aspect of the thigh and stop at the popliteal fossa or hip, or develop upward further.
(3) It is accompanied by obvious general symptoms and the total count of peripheral leukocyte and neutrophil cell ratio increase remarkably.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
