Treatment Based on Syndrome Differentiation:
1. Syndrome of Fire-Toxin Invading into Collaterals
Main Symptoms  Fine red streaks with bright red color on the infected limb, mild general symptoms, reddened tongue, thin and yellowish coating, soft and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods Cool blood, clear away heat and dissolve toxins.

2.Syndrome of Fire-Toxin Invading into YingNutrient System
Main Symptoms   Comparatively wide red streaks on the infected limb, with dark red color, burning pain, proximal lymphatic tumefaction and fusion, accompanied by chill and high fever, restlessness, headache, dry mouth, thirst with preference for cold drinks, crimson tongue, yellowish and greasy coating, full and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods  Clear Ying-Nutrient System, cool blood, dissolve toxins and diminish tumefaction.

Other Therapies:
1.  Stone-Needle Method
For fine and superficial red streaks, it is advisable to use the stone needle method. After disinfection of the local skin, it is advisable to cut off the red streaks little by little with a three-edged needle, or cut off the ends of the red streaks and then squeeze the skin around the needle hole for slight bleeding before it is bandaged with aseptic dressings.

2. Application Method
For wide and swelling red streaks, or lymphadenectasis, it is advisable to choose "Jin Huang Ointment", "Yu Lu Ointment", or "Qing Fu Ointment" for local application on the infected areas. After suppuration, it is advisable to mix with "Jiu Yi Pellet", "Ba Er Pellet" inside the wound to promote pus discharge and expel the decay. After pus is discharged completely, it is advisable to mix with "Sheng Ji Powder" and cover the wound with "Sheng Ji Ointment" to promote granulation and healing.

Cautions:
Red-streak furuncle is mostly a secondary disease. Therefore, to prevent lesion of the skin and mucous membrane and treat the boils and sores on the hand and foot can reduce the incidence of this disease. In this disease, if red streaks are comparatively wide, the condition is severe and can present the complications of high fever, vague mind, chest pain and hemoptysis in some cases. Therefore, it is necessary to pay much attention and to use antibiotics in combination.
