Furuncle is an acute suppurative disease in the superficial position of the muscle and skin, mostly caused by invasion of dampness and heat in summer and autumn, or by infection due to scratch after primary attack of heat rash, or by accumulation of heat toxins in zang-fu organs, and characterized by a local reddened tumefaction with burning sensation and pain in most cases. Mter pus discharge, the wound can heal quickly. In accordance with different clinical manifestations, it can be divided into tipped furuncle, non-tipped furuncle, mole cricket furuncle, and furunculosis, which are similar to furuncle, dermal abscess, penetrating abscess of scalp, and furunculosis.
Complications of a furuncle include:
