Treatment Based on Syndrome Differentiation:
1. Syndrome of Wind and Heat Attacking the Exterior
Main Symptoms: Fresh red skin rashes, serious pruritus, accompanied by fever, sore throat, skin rashes aggravated by exposure to heat, red tongue margin and tip, thin and white or thin and yellow coating, superficial and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Relieve exterior with spicy and cool drugs, promote dispersing ability of lung, and clear away heat.
2. Syndrome of Blockage of the Exterior by Wind and Cold
Main Symptoms: Skin rashes in white color, aggravated by exposure to wind and relieved by warmth, no thirst, slightly red tongue, thin and whitish coating, superficial and tight pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Relieve exterior with spicy and warm drugs, promote dispersing ability of the lung, and clear away cold.
3. Syndrome of Blood Deficiency and Wind Dryness
Main Symptoms: Repeated and lingering skin rashes, aggravated in the afternoon or at night, accompanied by vexation, dry mouth, reddened tongue with scanty fluid, deep and thready pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Nourish blood, expel wind, replenish yin and moisten dryness.
4. Syndrome of Dampness and in the Spleen and Stomach
Main Symptoms: Pain in the epigastric region in the attack of skin rashes, with restlessness, failure to take food, fatigue, lassitude, loose stool, or constipation, reddened tongue, yellowish and greasy coating, soft and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Clear away heat, dissolve dampness, strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach.
5. Syndrome of Excessive Heat-Toxin in Ying-Nutrient System
Main Symptoms: Sudden onset, skin rashes over the whole body, in big patches of fresh red color, serious pruritus, accompanied by high fever, vexation, thirstwith preference of cold drinks, sore throat, flushed complexion, red eyes, scanty and brown urine, constipation,crimson tongue, yellowish coating, rapid or slippery and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Clear away heat, dissolve toxins, cool blood and protect yin.
6. Syndrome of Spleen Impairment due to Insect Accumulation
Main Symptoms: Frequently seen in children, with repeated attack of skin lesions, yellow complexion with white papule, accompanied by pain around the umbilicus, indulgence in snacks, teeth grinding in sleep, positive in parasite egg in stool culture, white or greasy tongue coating, and soft pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Expel insects, strengthen the spleen, digest food and dissolve retention.
