VARIANT NAMES: Cishen, Shaxun, Haishu (Sea Mouse).
ORIGIN: The whole of Stichopusjaponicus [Stichopodidae], or any of the other sea cucumbers.
CHEMICAL COMPSITION: Dried edible sea cucumbers contain 55.51% of crude protein, 1.85 % of crude fat, carbohydrate, calcium, phosphorus, iron, sterol, triterpenol and iodine.
NATURE, FLAVOR AND CHANNEL TROPISM: Salty in flavor and warm in nature, acting on the channels of the heart and kidney.
EFFICIENCIES AND INDICATIONS: Tonifying the kidney, replenisihing the vital essence, nourishing the blood and moistening dryness. It is used to treat deficiency of the essence and blood, weakness, Impotence and Seminal Emission, Prostatitis, Constipation due to dryness of the intestinal tract, and debility of the aged.
DIRECTIONS: To be made into soup or eaten sautéed after soaked. Patients suffering from diarrhea due to deficiency of the spleen or excessive phlegm should avoid it.
