The source is from the dried rhizome of Zingiber of ficinale (Willed.) Rosc., family Zingiberaceae. The medicinal herb is prepared by cutting dry ginger into pieces which is stir-baked with strong-fire into burnt-yellow or blackish of the surface and dark brown of the interior.
Medicinal Properties: Bitter and astringent in flavor, warm in nature and attributive to the spleen and liver meridians.
Actions: Warm channels to stop bleeding and warm the middle energizer to alleviate pain.
Application
2. For abdominal pain and diarrhea of asthenia-cold type, it is used alone or together with
Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Praeparata ); for postpartum deficiency of blood and stagnation of cold with lower abdominal pain, also with Danggui ( Radix Angelicae Sinensis ), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), etc., such as Shenghua Tang (Decoction).
Usage and Dosage: 3 - 6 g is used in decoction for oral use.
