Puer resin (Tea paste), Cha Gao is a concentrated extract of tea from old Puer trees. Despite the fact that this product has been made in Yunnan since ancient times, today Puer resin is still rare and is an exclusive product.

Production:
The manufacturing process is very complex and time-consuming, which explains the high price of Cha Gao. In order to make 100 grams of this Puer resin, one requires 10kg of tea leaves. Selected leaves are placed in large metal boilers. Fresh spring water is added. For three days the tea leaves are stirred and heated on a low heat. The spring water evaporates and forms a thick mass in the form of resin. Production takes place at a constant temperature of 75 degrees Celsius, which ensures that all the useful natural properties of the tea leaves don’t burn off. The final stage of this process is the shaping of the resin.

Characteristics:
This tea is unlike any conventional Puer. It is soft and without any bitterness. Since this resin is an extract of Puer, the effects on the body can be invigorating: especially if one makes the brew strong.

Aroma: filled with tones of prunes, hazelnuts, strong coffee and a slight tinge of apple.

Infusion: dark chocolate, rich, dense color.

Taste: once infused the resin produces an elegant, slightly smoky taste. Many will find the taste similar to Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe).
