To observe the efficacy of acupoint plastering therapy with Wenjing Zhitong Gao in patients with primary dysmenorrhea.
Methods
Fifty patients with primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into two groups. Thirty- two cases received therapy of point plaster bandages while the other eighteen cases, as control group, take Xuanhu tablets orally for 3 menstrual periods. The scores of the main symptoms and total effective rate were evaluated before and after treatment.
Results
The difference of total symptoms score was significant(P0.01) before and after treatment between two groups. The scores of lower abdominal pain,back pain, cold sweat, vomiting and diarrhea were significantly declined (P0.01) after therapy in treatment group compared with these in control group. The total effective rate of the treatment group was 93.8% while that of control was 72.2%, the difference of the cure rate and the total effective rate were significant (P0.05) between two groups.
Conclusion
Acupoint plaster therapy for warming channel and relieving pain exerts a certain therapeutic effect in primary dysmenorrhea by improving symptoms such as lower abdominal pain, back pain, cold sweat, vomiting and diarrhea.
