Nourishing Yin, moistening the lung, invigorating Qi and reinforcing the spleen.
Indications
Syndrome due to consumption and impairment of the lung-Yin, marked by inproductive cough of deficiency and consumption type, dry throat, hemoptysis, emaciation, shortness of breath, lassitude, reddened tongue with little coating, and thready rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia and pleurisy.

Radix Rehmanniae (Shengdihuang) 8000 g,
Poria (Fuling) 1500 g,
Bai Mi (Mel) 5000 g.
Explanation
Sheng Di: The principal drug, nourishing Yin and promoting water metabolism.
Bai Mi: Nourishing the lung and moistening dryness.
Ren Shen and Fu Ling: Tonifying the spleen-Qi besides Fu Ling's action of inducing diuresis and resolving phlegm.
Administration
Ren Shen and Fu Ling are ground into fine powder, Sheng Di is pounded to get its juice (or Shu Di is decocted in water for the decoction, which is used instead of the juice or Sheng Di). The powder, the juice and Feng Mi are mixed evenly into a paste. The paste is Qiongyu Gao, which is stored in a porcelain pot for use. 6-9 g of the paste is taken each time, twice daily.
