This is an acute pyogenic infection of the breast during the breast feeding period, more common in primiparae and often in the upper and lateral quarter of one breast.
Treatment:
Foot massage: The massage is applied to chest (43), lymph nodes (chest, 41), lymph nodes (upper body, 39) and reproductive gland (36) reflecting areas (Fig. 98).
Foot acupuncture:
1) Meridianal acupoints: Zulinqi (GB41), Diwuhui (GB 42), Zhaohai (KI 6), Xiaxi (GB 43), Shugu (BL65), Xingjian (LR2) and Taichong (LR 3) acupoints may be selected for application of a reducing acupuncture technique at the early stage of this disease to promote circulation of qi, release blood stasis, and relieve pain.
2) Foot acupoint: A moderate acupuncture is applied at Lung (FA-P 6) acupoint and the needle is retained for 20 minutes.
