In traditional Chinese medicine, masses in the lower abdomen in women can be divided into two types: Zheng masses which are hard, fixed, cause pain in a specific location, and form due to a disturbance of blood; and Jia masses which are movable, cause general pain, and form due to the disturbance of qi. These two types of masses are closely related and cannot be absolutely distinguished one from the other.
