Key Points for Diagnosis:
The clinical manifestations of the disease indicate that the case should pertain to "Baomang"(sudden blindness) in traditional Chinese medicine. The seven emotions, diet, overworking and phlegm-fire are often the causes of the case. Its main pathogenesis is that hyperactivity of liver yang causes upward invasion of liver qi, or that stagnation of liver qi leads to blood stasis, or that endogenous phlegm-heat accumulates in the eye, or that excessive fire due to yin deficiency affects upwards the eye, and all the factors may obstruct the ocular channel (or veins), causing the occurrence of the disease.
According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, there are some patterns of syndrome that lead to Horner Syndrome.
1. Syndrome of Qi and Blood Stagnation
2. Syndrome of Turbid-phlegm Attack on Eye
3. Syndrome of Endogenous Wind of Liver
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
