The Horners syndrome is a medical condition experienced by people who may be suffering from stroke, spinal cord injury, lung cancer, and tumor. Some people may not have underlying disease, but they may experience signs of the syndrome. This type of condition is called idiopathic because of the absence of an underlying cause. Symptoms of Horner Syndrome include:
1. Ptosis – medical term for drooping of the eyelid/s.
2. Miosis – medical terminology for increased constriction of the pupils. A particular eye is affected.
3. The affected side of the face will have a decrease in sweating or medically known as anhidrosis.
4. Sinking of the eyeballs into the face or the orbital area.
5. Reddish conjunctiva or also referred as bloodshot conjunctiva.
6. Swelling of the lower eyelid may be noted.
7. Decreased tear production on the affected eye.
8. Rarely causes heterochromia, different eye or iris colors.
