Boils are reddened lumps that develop on the surface of the skin. One of the primary boils symptoms is that the place where the boils grow turns red. Then after a day or two a small nodule appears on the skin surface. The nodule then gradually grows large in size and when the lump attains a size of about 3 to 5 centimeters in diameter, a whitish head is developed. From time to time the head of the boil allows pus to flow out along with blood. But sometimes the pus comes out only when the head bursts naturally. Since boils are quite troublesome and especially when they are in advanced stage you are required to give medical attention as soon as you perceive that you have been attacked by the incidence of boils.

Furuncles are actually boils that are characterized by more than one opening and often attack the person in repeated spells. The patients who get affected by repeated attacks of furuncles are those of diabetes, HIV positive and such. The nasal ducts of these patients are actually the store house of colonies of bacteria and under the influence of these bacteria the skin of the patients gets re-infected again and again. High fever, dizziness, and chills often accompany furuncles.
